In response to Stacie’s question posted yesterday:
Stacie,
I love clients like you, they know their hair better than anyone. As I had previously mentioned, we created No Frizz Styling Treatment for Thick to Coarse hair just for your hair type. The treatment has an added wheat protein for hydration. Since we here at Living Proof haven’t yet launched a purely hydrating product, (that blows away all the competition) I do encourage you to continue using whichever deep conditioning treatment that works best for you with your No Frizz product (see Rob’s posting, Mixing No Frizz with Other Products).
As far as which “thick to coarse treatment” would be best for you depends on what results you want to see. If you want frizz control (a/k/a humidity protection), shine and great feeling hair, and you currently get enough curl definition just by air drying, I would use “thick to coarse treatment” sans control, i.e. “straight making treatment for thick to coarse hair.” Although the packaging says “straight making,” it will still work in your hair, it just doesn’t contain holding properties/polymers that others might need to maintain and control their waves and curls.
Now on the other hand, if you do need some hold or control for your curls the “no frizz treatment with control” is for you, i.e. “wave making, curl defining treatment for thick to coarse hair.”
One of the ways I use No Frizz on clients with your type of hair in my salon is to mix the two together. I either mix both in my hand using a generous amount of each or first working one then the other directly into the hair.
As I stated earlier, if frizz control is your first and foremost concern for your hair, a generous coating is necessary for best results, bearing in mind that too much of the “thick to coarse treatment with control” can make your hair slightly crunchy if you don’t work at evenly distributing the product.
Later on I’ll share a couple of ideas on how you might want to try styling thick to coarse, curly hair, (other than air and gravity).
Hope this answers your question Stacie, I’m sure there are many others facing just the same problem. Thanks again for asking!
Mitch

thanks for answering my question Mitch!
I was looking for the coarse hair product, not available on QVC or on your website…..where can I get some?
Thanks for clearing up the “mixing the products” question too. I thought maybe you should use leave-ins or oils first, then No Frizz, but you’re right. I experimented over the weekend….works wonders using the No Frizz first, then a tiny drop of oil rubbed between my hands and smoothed over my now frizz free lovely locks!
You guys ROCK!!!
Stacie
