Living Proof has been tried, tested, and talked about by several experts around the globe and while we certainly appreciate their input, we value the thoughts and opinions of our customers above all else.
This is your space as much as ours, so if you would like to start a conversation topic that hasn’t already been started, leave your comment anywhere on the blog, and we’ll address it!

I am so glad to see that you are coming out with the Jumbo Size. I have thick, coarse, curly hair. The only time my hair was sleek and shiny was when my hairdresser did it. I use the Leave in Conditioner and styling creme.
I now can do my own hair, flat-iron it and go several days without worrying.
I live in the south, so you can imagine the humidity.
I am so glad that I found this product. I am now sharing it with my friends, so I think you will have more customers from the South.
Hey Elizabeth, thanks for the note. Send us the information at questions@livingproof.com and we’ll see what we can do. We’re just so happy you love the products. Rob, CEO.
Your No Frizz was mentioned before a meeting I attended with several other professional women, and the conversation was off and running! I tried the curl defining treatment–it was mid-summer and I needed it–and was so impressed. The look, the feel, its staying power over the course of long, humid days. I do pro bono work for a large women’s event happening this fall, and I think Living Proof should be there. More of us need to know about what you do and what it can do for us, and I think the segment who hit Sephora or QVC is too small. OK, I do it, but I know so many who don’t.
Well we just got over the 15 worst humid, hot, muggie days every….and voila I still have straight hair!!! Can’t imagine what would happen if you ever ran out of this product. I’m hoping to try the leave-in; as I like the shampoo and conditioner as well. Guess I’m just a No Frizz roadie:)
I used both the straight and wavy leave in products and they work okay. My hair is super curly, frizzy and dry from coloring. The products make my blow drying time a bit longer and it does make my hair look shiny for about 5 minutes. Once I am out in the humidity this product didn’t really work much better than any of the others on the market. Still go frizz, even with a helmet of hairspray on top. It does make your hair really soft, but the shiny part ends when the frizz starts. I used tons of this stuff and it only works when their is very little humidity. Not sure why all the others on this blog are saying it totally works because they must have only mildly curly hair. I will buy it again because it does make your hair more manageable, but it still isn’t the nirvana everyone with super curly hair is looking for. The very small size bottles for the amount paid was shocking when it arrived. You need to offer a larger size for the price.
Love the products – have been using the shampoo/conditioner and styling cream for wavy coarse hair. I just wish it came in bigger sizes. The price tag is a bit hefty for an amount that will only last me about 4 applications if I use it according to the videos here.
I have naturally curly/frizzy hair that has been torture for me all my life. I have tried sooooo many hair products to tame it. Living Proof is a miracle!!! Truly!! I have used all the creams and was one of the first people to buy the shampoo and conditioner and I love them both. These products do not weigh your hair down. Amazing.
I live in Pittsburgh, PA and we have hot and muggy/humid weather periodically throughout the summer, plus rainy humid weather at times in the spring and fall. Since I have been using Living Proof, my hair is amazing. I have actually forgotten what its like to have kinky frizzy ugly hair. I even use Living Proof when its not humid or rainy as it makes my hair fuller, softer, easier to style. I absolutely love it. Thank you so much for the wonderful product and I hope to see more.
Betty
Just when I thought I was doomed to frizzy hair the rest of my life – along comes No Frizz. I have only used it a couple of times so far but the results are amazing!! I have had MANY compliments and a co-worker even asked if I colored my hair because she said my hair looked like it had “more color” and was shinier. I live in MD and it’s always humid but I can actually let my hair air dry without looking like Gilda Radner (to quote someone else). I used to use Wen cleanser/conditioner which I loved but it doesn’t control frizziness. I now use the No Frizz shampoo, conditioner and the wave shaping, curl defining styling cream for medium to thick hair. I just ordered it for straight hair and I will be trying the leave in conditioner too. Thank you Living Proof – I am now a poster child for No Frizz.
Give us a call when you can. The wave/curl products all contain a lightweight holding polymer to give waves and curls some definition. However, some people like hold and some don’t (like you!). So for you, we’d recommend the Straight Making Cream which will still give you a frizz free result even if you want to wear it wavy/curly. I’d stick with the Cream though vs. the Spray so you get a little conditioning for your color-treated hair.
Anyway, we’re available Monday – Friday from 8 am – 6pm EST at 866-240-9933 and are happy to make it right.
Rob, CEO
I just tried the No Frizz “wave shaping curl defining no frizz styling cream for medium to thick hair” on my hair today. I also used the shampoo and conditioner. However it has left my hair crunchy and somewhat sticky at the same time. Definitely not soft at all! I don’t know what I did wrong. I have naturally curly/wavy hair. I like to wear it naturally, but it usually ends up messy and frizzy. I really want this stuff to work for me. My hair is thin and fine and color treated. It’s a little dry, but not too bad. I live in Minnesota and the air is either cold and dry or hot and humid.
I do not use a dryer or flat iron to style my hair. I much prefer a “wash and go” routine. Typically, after I wash & condition, I put in a leave-in conditioner and towel dry, scrunch and that’s it!
I wonder if maybe the “wave shaping curl defining no frizz styling spray for fine to medium hair” would be a better choice? The website recommended the cream because I said my hair was dry/damaged (its not that bad, but somewhat).
Please let me know if you have any suggestions!
Hi Gina,
We’re sorry to hear you didn’t get great results using the No Frizz Straight Making Cream. We suggest you continue to use it a few more times as the technology works better the more you use it. Also, you might want to consider using the whole system (i.e. No Frizz Shampoo and Conditioner as well as No Frizz Stylers) – this has been proven to provide even greater results. Give it a try and let us know how it goes. If you’re not interested then please give us a call for a full refund if you purchased from livingproof.com.
Unfortunately, this didn’t work for me at all. I have fine wavy/curly hair that frizzes both when it’s air dried or blow dried if I don’t use any products. So as soon as it arrived in the mail I tried it the same day. Instead of my usual b&b cream I used the straight making styling cream on my towel dried hair, as directed I fully saturated the entire hair and then blow dried as usual. As soon as I finished blow drying the hair looked OK as it always does right after blow drying, smooth but not completely sleek. So I waited to see the results, whithin 10 minutes it started puffing and frizzing (there was 72% humidity outside and 47% in my house). An hour later still in the house the hair looked like puffy frizzy straws all over as if I hadn’t used any products.
I don’t think this product does anything for fine hair, or I can’t explain why I didn’t see the slightest difference. On the plus side it has a lovely smell, I liked the citrus scent. I’ll still be using my b&b styling cream which controls frizz not entirely but better than this.
Living Proof? Try Living POUF. I live in Louisiana, so I put this to the ultimate frizz test. I used this before going out on a humid, summer night after it rained. The results: worked fine while indoors, yet the moment I went outside I looked like Gilda Radner. Apparently nothing will work against these conditions.
So, I’ve been using the straightening spray for about a two weeks now, and this morning used the shampoo and conditioner for the first time. The conditioner was kind of rich, and I was worried that it would weigh my hair down, but it rinsed very off very clean, and my hair feels lighter than it ever has. The products seem to work together so well that I didn’t even have to use a flat iron today. The big test for me will be to see how well they repel the dirt and oil, as described, because I don’t wash my hair every day and I am eager to see if this product helps in that regard. I’m also eager to try the curling spray too, because I mix it up with my hair a lot. But so far, so good. And I LOVE the smell. Clean but not perfumey.
I had beautiful pin straight hair that I was complimented on all my life. I NEVER had frizzies. Suddenly a year or too ago it all changed, though I can not pinpoint any specific reason why. My hair turned to straw-looking frizz. I dread going out in the summer humidity. I tried a Brazilian Keratin therapy treatment but feel that it made a lot of my hair break with the flat ironing, and really didn’t see a great improvement. I was at my wits end….. seeing my hair even frizz INSIDE my house if it got to hot. Well I saw the Living Proof ad in Allure and bought it yesterday. I’ve only used it once, and it made a HUGE difference, I now have minimal frizz (THANK YOU THANK YOU)even after walking down by the water for an hour in 90 degree weather. PLEASE PLEASE make it in bigger bottles so it lasts longer!!!!!!
The Straight Making products work best with heat. For Wavy/Curly styles you can either dry with a diffuser or let it air dry. If you have straight hair and are adverse to using heat, try the Straight Spray for about a week and see if you can notice the difference. We do know some customers use the products without heat. It all depends on the kind of affect you’re looking for. Alternatively – you could also try the Straight Cream since you describe your hair as dry/damaged. The extra conditioning may help hydrate your hair and tame the frizzies. Let us know how it goes!
Hello, do the products only work if you use some type of heat? I can’t use heat (blow dryer, flat iron, etc..) because my hair is so fine and gets damaged easily but I do have a little bit of frizzies sometimes. I have fine, straight hair that tends to be dry. I tried the straight-making spray for fine/med hair but it did nothing for my hair. However, I have since heard you have to use heat with that one to get results. Any advice for those of us that are adverse to using heat on our hair? Or better yet, it would be WONDERFUL if you created a No Frizz product especially for those of us who air dry our hair!
Hi Naomi – our products are very unique in that they require you to fully coat your hair which is very different than many other products you’ve likely used in the past. Try using you No Frizz first before the Silk Groom by Kiehl’s. Apply to damp hair and use enough to fully coat your hair from roots to ends. Comb through and add anything else you feel you may need. Then style as usual with a heat appliance. If this doesn’t give you the frizz-free results (even in high-humidity) we’d like to invite you in for a tutorial. As you may know we’re located in Cambridge so you’re welcome to pop by if you set up an appointment.
First, I definitely think these products do what they say and that’s good!
What I learned was that since the conditioner doesn’t add any weight to my hair that I was getting a significant amount of shrinkage. So my hair was frizz free, and the shrinkage was noticeable especially when I used the conditioner as a leave in a couple times. So who knew that I would actually like some bit of product weight on my hair !!:>) So ironically when I purchased the duo I was more interested in the conditioner than the shampoo. Now, after using the products for over a week, I like the shampoo better and not the conditioner due to the shrinkage issue.
Some good points on the products:
Conditioner has great slip — when I’m in the shower the comb glides through my hair
Don’t need to use much of either product which is great since they are pricey
It seems that I get better performance from my other styling products (leave in, gel etc) when I use the shampoo. This could be my imagination, so I’ll keep on using them to see if this continues to be the case
So now my routine is: Living Proof Shampoo, leave in conditioner, no frizz curl defining for thick coarse hair and gel. (BTW – I’m a big fan of the styling products – have been using them for months!) With the shampoo at this point I would say I’ve taken the first few steps to becoming a fan but I probably need to finish the bottle and get more experience before I say that I absolutely love it.
BTW — I notice that Sephora is carrying a leave in conditioner which seems to be a separate product from the shampoo and conditioner. I’ll probably give this a shot and see if I still have the shrinkage issues with the leave in conditioner. Anyone tried the leave in?
I’ve been using Living Proof now for a few weeks and I have to say that it’s not quite there yet for me. But I’m an optimist, so I’m hoping to see some results soon. I have a couple of circumstances that I have yet to see much of on the blogs, so maybe that is part of the issue. I’m black and I have relaxed hair, and when I wash and blow dry my hair, I set it– it’s not a plain old blow dry. I use Kiehl’s Silk Groom before I put in living proof, then I set my hair and blow it dry. It looks great when it’s dry, but when I leave the house if there is any humidity in the air, it’s wrecked. I live in Boston and Thursday was a perfect example there was a drop of humidity in the air Thursday morning and by the time I got to work my hair was a frizzball. I am experimenting with the amount that I use– I wonder if it’s not enough. I’d be curious to know if you had any suggestions
I purchased the straight making styling cream for thick hair even though I have fine hair because my hair is color treated and damaged with split ends and frizzes. It worked fantastic from the very first time I used it. I was worried that it would be too heavy and weigh down my hair like the hundreds of other products I have tried over the years but it didn’t!! I am now purchasing the shampoo and I hope it works as well. Great product that works as advertised.
Dear Living proof team:
I think your product is great and it delivers as it is advertised. I have however two comments to make. If your hair is anywhere past your shoulders, its not an economical product as you need an ample amount applied to the hair. It’s just too expensive for such small amount of product you get.
The other comment I have, is that it would be nice if the packaging was changed. The current plastic container being used is very tough and does not allow you to get every single drop out. Towards the end of the bottle, I find that I have to unscrew the entire cap and start banging it on my hand to get more product out. I’m amazed how much more product I get out this way, that would not have come out simply by squeezing the bottle. Please consider repackaging with a softer tube, like what a lot of cosmetics use, so that every bit can be squeezed out (like what toothpaste is stored in).
Otherwise great product. Will repurchase in future if improvements are made.
Sincerely,
Joanna
Hi Argie,
We recommend that you try the Wave Shaping, Curl Defining Spray or Cream for your hair. You can use these formulas to blow your hair out straight and the holding polymer in the formula (meant to define curls) can actually help to maintain the straight blow out for very curly hair. Give us a call if you want to talk more about tips and tricks for unruly hair. 1-866-240-9933. Let us know how it goes!
Dear Living Proof Team,
I’m having some trouble using Living Proof products. The Shampoo and Conditioner, plus the Straight Making Spray for fine to medium hair, leave my hair, which is color treated and seems especially dry this year, both limp and dull. Worse, my hair still curls rainy and high-humidity days, although I’m blow-drying it straight (it never goes stick-straight, no matter what products are used). I tried using the Shampoo and Conditioner with the Straight Making Cream for medium to thick hair, which made it curl a little less. But it still felt limp and looked dull. I use a firm hair spray called Freeze & Shine by Paul Mitchell; if I don’t the hair would curl even more. I’m not sure what to try next. Maybe I should be you “Nothing Works” control.
Jerilyn — feel free to see what other customers have to say and recommend but we would recommend you first try the Straight Making Cream for medium to thick hair. You may also benefit from the No Frizz Shampoo & Conditioner available now (and Leave-in coming out soon).
Your routine would go like this: wash and condition with No Frizz Shampoo & Conditioner, apply Leave-in as necessary focusing on dry/damaged areas. While hair is still damp, coat it fully with No Frizz Straight Making Cream and comb through. Then blow dry (no need for heat protexx). Then use No Frizz Straight Making Spray for fine to medium hair to mist over sections before running your curling iron through it – this adds an added layer of humidity-blocking PolyfluoroEster and will protect your hair from heat styling for a soft, smooth, frizz-free finish. Let us know how it goes!
Hi Ladies,
Okay, I need help. I received a sample packet from Sephora. I’d never heard of the product before, so I went straight to the website to learn more about it. Wow! Was I impressed at the comments on the blog! I’m just not sure which product to order. I’m Black, with fine hair which is a medium texture (not coarse). I wash and blow dry my hair every other day, mainly because I live near the coast in the South, high humidity and my scalps sweats a lot. I also use SEVERAL hair products to get it to behave (please don’t laugh when I tell you my hair-washing routine). First, I wash and condition, towel dry, then I spray with Nexxus Luxe leave-in conditioner followed by one pump of DHC Hair Treatment, comb through, followed by a dollop of Paul Mitchell Flexible Mousse and a quick spritz of Nexxus Heat Protexx. Blow dry. Then a quick spray of Sebastian Shaper before I hot curl (I prefer a large curling iron to a flat iron — I like my hair flipped up and I get better results), and finally another quick spray of Sebastian Shaper after I comb out. My hair is chemically-relaxed AND color-treated (and surprisingly it hasn’t fallen completely off my head — I really try to condition well). Which No Frizz product should I use, and what can I eliminate from my oh-so-complicated morning routine? Pleas help!
Gisele – give us a call at 1-866-240-9933 and we’d be glad to speak with you and walk you through usage!
Yes I am using the shampoo, conditioner, spray and the creme. Am I not using enough or to much? My hair is very fine and I do color it. Any more hints would sure be nice.
I LOVE LIVING PROOF!!! I am a beauty product junkie, and have tried every “no frizz” product on the market. I admit, I was very skeptical about your product. But, holy cow, this stuff works! My hair is silky, shiny, and absolutely no frizz! If you can conquer Nebraska humidity in the height of summer, that says a lot! I am also amazed that I can now go a day between washing my hair, and my hair looks just as good when I wake up in the morning. I would love to see you start making larger sizes of your product or a refill size to refill the smaller bottles.
Keep up the great work!
Another Favorable Comment!!
My daughter just felt my hair because she was sort of skeptical that if she tried it, her hair would be slightly greasy–well, another positive result. She actually told me my hair not only did NOT feel greasy, but that it actually felt soft. Please DO NOT EVER STOP MAKING THIS PRODUCT!
Just used this for the first time and….well, let me tell you somethin’ ’bout my hair…I was the girl who could never go into a pool or ocean because my hair was frizzy, and wavy and just has so many textures. Put them all together and it is not a very pretty visual. Over the years, I’ve learned to be a pro at blow drying my hair straight, but have always needed a ton of expensive product to get it that way. In addition, now as I am in total menopause, I’ve lost a lot of my hair and don’t want to damage it.
Today, I used NoFrizz and am so happy that, at long last, I’ve found one product that will do it all. My coarse hair is soft and has been blown out very nice indeed! I’ve noticed that some people have made comments about the odor. I’ve had no problem with an odor and the hair feels great! Now..if you MIT guys can just invent something that will replace hair lost during menopause………………….
First I tried the straight-making creme then I added the shampoo & conditioner; my hair has never behaved better! I used to have to use a flatiron to straighten my naturally curly/frizzy hair; now I just have to blowdry. My color-treated hair is getting healthier since I only have to wash it 2 or 3 times per week instead of daily. Love your products; hopefully the price will go down when your sales go up!
A Very Satisfied Florida Senior!
Gisele – are you using the shampoo & conditioner with the styler? Check out our How To Videos for extra help.
I guess my hair is just hopeless. I tried the shampoo and conditioner and I am not having the results most are getting. I will keep trying though. It doesn’t help that I live in FL and it has rained everyday since I started using it.
Yes the product works great on bangs. Apply to bangs as you would the rest of your hair and blow dry as usual. No Frizz should keep your bangs frizz-free and smooth throughout the day.
does this product work on bangs too???
Hm…..curl: these products will NOT stop naturally curly hair from curling in humidity, they will only keep it from frizzing……..this isn’t my thoughts at all. IT DOES STOP MY VERY THICK, CURLY HAIR FROM STOPPING CURLING!!! I blow dry, use the flat iron and am good for many day…..no curls at all…..sometimes I actually have to remind myself to brush my hair……I absolutely love this stuff…….I think that Rob….you should put me as your spokesperson/girl:)
I would love to order the shampoo…….but alas…..no delivery to Canada……come on Rob!!!
When I initially purchased and started using your Straight-Making Cream (and spray and treatment!!!), I absolutely loved them. Over time, however, my hair became very dry (”straw”-like) and not at all shiny. It just looked very dull and lifeless. Is there anything that I could have been doing wrong??? I have since gone back to silicone-based products (and love the shine again!), but miss the frizz-busting properties of your products– and still hope to find my perfect silky/shiny/straight solution!! Any help that you could provide would be greatly appreciated. Thanks so much!!
Melissa, we’re working on larger sizes, so stay tuned!
I have naturally curly hair that curls and frizzes in any type of humidity. I have been using the Straight Making Cream for several months now and am really happy with the no frizz results. When I saw the shampoo and conditioner were available, I ordered them as well and have been using them for almost a week. Overall, I am happy with all the Living Proof products. However, there are a couple of things I would like to comment on.
My hair is colored a light neutral blonde, and I’ve noticed that the color has turned a little brassy since I started using the shampoo. An overall comment about frizz vs. curl: these products will NOT stop naturally curly hair from curling in humidity, they will only keep it from frizzing. I would love to find a product that keeps my hair straight in humidity after it’s been flat-ironed, but this isn’t it.
I think the price on the shampoo/conditioner is too high, but I’ve paid that much in the past for a good quality shampoo so will probably buy it again.
Okay, let me start by saying I LOVE this stuff! I used to go through creams, sprays, $80 conditioners…all in the pursuit of the elusive ‘no frizz’ for my curls. I’m a CurlyGirl, and the silicone products don’t work without harsh shampoos to wash them out.
And then I hunted down No Frizz. I heard about this ‘new’ frizz control, and went to Sephora specifically to buy it…without even knowing the name. I bought it, but kept the receipt.
Well, suffice it to say that I’ve thrown everything else out, and am thrilled that you’re coming out with a conditioner, too — can’t wait to try it.
Only ONE small complaint…could you make it in bigger containers, please? I go through it pretty fast, and would love if it was a bit more eco-friendly. But otherwise…THANK YOU!!!!
for the first time in my life, my hair is manageable…I purchased the shampoo and conditioner, and now all I use is those two and the no frizz spray…no gels, no mousses, no hairspray.
this will make my summer so much more enjoyable…thanks
Maureen, the Shampoo & Conditioner will NOT supercede your need for the styling products. You still need the stylers to keep the frizzies at bay. Thanks for the feedback on the fragrance. Its such a tough thing to try and find one that everyone loves. Let us know what you think of the new products once you have a chance to try. Thanks. Rob, CEO
Will using the shampoo and conditioner supercede the need for the straightening cream, or will the leave-in product still be required to combat the frizzies? Great project by the way. My only suggestion is that you work on the fragrance a bit. It smells like bug spray when I first put it on!
Thanks.
Erica, give us a call at 866-240-9933 Monday – Friday from 8 am – 6 pm. Jessie can walk you through some tips and if you’re up to it come into our evaluation salon. Thanks, Rob
I was wondering if you have tested this product on Hassidic hair, and if so how did the test hair respond?? I have LONG, THICK, COARSE, Hassidic hair(which I have learned is a hairdresser’s nightmare) and decided to purchase No Frizz after reading this blog. I used it for the first time today and although the curls are defined, my hair still looks “frizzy.” I tend to over use products because of my hair texture so I do not think it is not that I am not using enough. If you any ideas please let me know, and like Caroline (message on 6/30/2009) I work in Cambridge and would be more than willing to meet in regards to pointers or to use my hair as a tester. Thank you- Erica
Not a fan!! expensive and I found it to work NO better than a store bought product for half the price. Very disappointed.
Nancy, I promise with the legions of fans out there like you, this product will be around FOREVER! Thanks for the support.
Rob, CEO
I wish this product had been around when I was a teenager and my nick name was “frizzle top!”
I have long, fine yet thick (and kinda corse) curly hair. One feature I have noticed is the product has a “curl memory” effect. I often wear my hair pulled back in hats due to working with horses or when cycling or gardening.
In the old days before your product I would have to restyle my curls with a styling product and wet fingers since my hair would be made fuzzy with hair ties and hat pressure. I would also get a lot of build up by doing this.
Now my hair rebounds within about 2 minutes into great curls as if I never had a hat on or had it pulled back in ties. It really is terrific. Whatever you do…DO NOT…repeat…DO NOT STOP MAKING THIS PRODUCT.
Hi, I have totally curly hair that does frizz and my whole life I have experienced anguish about my hair, mainly because our society has favored straight, no frizz locks, and so I have imbibed that cultural norm and also, I have to say, I do envy those who can swim and never fear, wash and come out looking not only good, but extra terrific, in ways that for me, each time, require the skills of an expert hair dresser. I was once actually refused by a hair dresser who said his salon couldn’t handle my hair. I felt so bad. Like a freak. When I get my hair done, everyone says, WOW, your hair looks so great and when I don’t, I know how people are thinking. So hair had become a big “issue” in my life, my whole life.
OK. I bought your cream product and went off to France. I washed, used the cream, and voila, I looked cute, in ways I hadn’t experienced before. (I didn’t have the videos but now see them on line and this is so great, because I will have a better idea how to use the products.) In France, I didn’t have access to a hair dryer and besides, I do a lousy job generally, the old way. My hair continues to curl, but honest, it looks very cute, and I just styled it wet with my hand. And I wore a hat, over the top, which I had some trouble “styling”. I did the same on my return. People told me here that I look so “cute”. What did I do to my hair? Now I know I need tips on how to do this better but this is a great start, and I feel so hopeful. I bought the wave product and haven’t used it yet, but I have used the cream and truly, like the results. After sleeping on my hair, I wake and it looks less than optimal, so despite your words about not having to wash, I simply wetted it down, using the cream, and going about my day, and yes, I felt really attractive and comments supported this. So… YOU HAVE GIVEN ME NEW HOPE!
I hope there will be a way to get a bigger bottle, because, even in watching the videos, it’s obvious people have to use a lot of this product to get the desired results, and that means, we need a bigger bottle. So think about this. Your “regulars” could use a boost. Certainly I will buy this product since it’s the best I have yet seen on the market. And I am going to try the shampoo though I do like the Kerastase products for my hair. Who knows? You have made a convert of me! Don’t stop production!
My husband is an MIT biologist. I think this is terrific!
Ruth
Caroline, we have used the product on many African American hair. It works great when used in combination with the right moisturizing products. The product is a styler so it will last from one shampoo to another and we would love to have you come to the labs. We do salon testing 5 days a week right here in Cambridge. E-mail jessie@livingproof.com and she can get you all set up. Thanks for writing.

Karen, thanks for the question. The product does work on Brazilian processed hair. We’ve had a lot of customers use it in combination. Take care.

Hi
So does this really work for very Thick Coarse African hair? I grew out my relaxed hair and i am now struggling with trying to maintain my natural hair. Problem is when i wash with a leave in conditioner and blow dry my hair followed by flat ironing using John Frieda’s freeze free serum , my hair only looks good for one day then POOOOOOOF the next day it looks like a birds nest (w/o the eggs). Have you tested this product on course African hair? And how long does it last? I would be more than happy to come into your labs for a test i don’t work too far from you.
Fuzzy head!
Hi, I just discovered your product through an article in the Ft. Lauderdale Sun Sentinel and am excited about trying it – but first I want to check and make sure it will be safe for my Brazilian processed hair. Yes, my hair is VERY frizzy (less so since the Brazilian but still a little) and I live in South Florida. Thanks for providing this wonderful blog; I tried to see if this question was asked already but was unable to, so hope it isn’t a repeat.
Hi Linda,
From how you’re describing your hair – it sounds like you should be using the Wave Shaping spray for fine to medium hair. Apply 10-15 sprays on your short, fine, curly hair while it’s still damp and blow dry with a diffuser or let curls air dry. If you’re not getting great results – it could be one of two things: either you’re using the wrong formula or you’re not using enough of the product to fully saturate your damp hair. Feel free to call us at 1-866-240-9933 and we’d be more than happy to talk about these two possibilities. And, as always, we can exchange or return any product purchased here on livingproof.com 100% hassle free.
We hope to hear from you soon.
Oops, I haven’t read all the comments but I must be in the minority of people for whom my product, the styling spray, is not working. I live in Maine. We have just had a long stretch of rainy, humid weather. I have short, fine, very curly hair. I like to use a styling brush in the front for something resembling curly bangs. However no matter how much of the product I use, within moments of being outside, I am just as curly/frizzy as ever. Unless I was led to purchase the wrong product, it isn’t working for me. Sorry.
okay so I’m in your face……so to speak, but must tell you how great this product is. I know you’re saying Canada isn’t humid….well…..come here in the summer and see what humidty is like!!! I start out well each day only to have curlies appear along with frizz, frizz, frizz. Since using Living Proof they have disappeared. Yesterday was hot and humid with storm clouds lurking and where was I…..in the garden sweating up a storm…….I kept thinking okay so now it’s going to fail……..I walked by my car and voila…..straight hair, with only a little curve where it touched my head and the wet tree and still nothing major……..Must admit I do love this stuff and can be their ‘NATIONAL SPOKESPERSON’….in Canada……..of course!
You are not the first to design silicone-free frizz products. Profoundbeauty has been selling Frizz-zero for years. They were the first.
I can’t tell you how wonderful this product is!!!! I have spent hundreds of dollars trying everything on the market. Nothing even begins to work. I have always had a big problem with my hair. Of course, we move to florida. I figured I would just have to put my hair up for the rest of my life. I have beautiful long hair and it is such a shame. I saw your web site while just web cruizing. I almost just moved on. I decided to try just one more product and then just Learn to live with it. IT WORKS!! The humidity is at 98% and my hair is soft and frizz free. It is a miricle. I have already sent the site to all of my nieces who, unfortunatly, have my problem. Thank You!!!! Joe
I don’t know if my comment will help people who say their hair looks and feels like straw after using No Frizz, but that is exactly the way my hair looked after just blow drying it. (I used the straight making styling cream for med. to thick hair.) My hair was not shiny, the split ends really showed, it looked coarse, and it seemed to stick out all over the place. Then, I used my flat iron on it, section by section, and each section was immediately transformed into shiny, smooth, soft, silky hair, with my usual trouble spots (stubborn and random waviness and serious cowlicks that get much worse with exposure to humidity) suddenly being under control and smooth. My unscientific thought is that the chemical that coats the hair shafts responds (melts?) when the hot iron is applied. The transformation on my hair is pretty amazing. So, if any of you are having that apparently bad result after just blow drying your hair or letting it air dry, try using a hot curling iron or flat iron, and see if it transforms your hair the way it does mine.
I’m really thrilled with what I can now do with my hair. Now it looks as good or better than my stylist’s results, and I’ve never previously been able to achieve that kind of result. And it lasted the whole day yesterday, when it was exposed to high humidity and rain. I’m very pleased and thankful to have found this product.
I tried the straight making formula for coarse hair and it made my hair dry and bushy. I was given a refund and was very pleased with the concern and service. I decided to give it another try, being more
careful blowing it and using quite a bit more product. It still curls and puffs in humid weather but it has a smoother texture which I like. So…the issue now is that one 4 oz bottle barely lasts a month and at 24.00 a bottle, it’s a very expensive habit. I have very short hair but it’s extremely thick, frizzy, and curly, in addition to being all gray, which makes it even more coarse. Have you guys considered lowering the price or offering a larger size for the same price? A quarter size dollop barely saturates my bangs! Imagine how much I have to use each time to cover my whole head.
I have fine to medium hair and used No Frizz straightener for the first time. My hair is incredibly smooth and silky and what is rare is the fact that I didn’t use my straightening iron — no need. My hair seemed super easy to style. I can’t wait to try the No Frizz wavy. Make more products please! I’m impressed, and will be telling my friends. Need a rep in the Pacific NW (the land of drizzle)?
Thank you. Lori
Hi –a few suggestions–the bottles are so similiar in design making it too easy to purchase the wrong formula off the store shelves; create an insert or expand the directions to include things like “the cumulative effect”; how to combine different products from the line for different types of hair, etc.
basically–all the key info contained in this blog. if i didn’t log on so many times, I would have no idea how to use the product/s. which I am still trying to figure out. still frzzy after many purchases.
thanks
Carey, here’s what I suggest. I would replace the Paul Mitchell Super skinny serum with the No Frizz Straight Making Spray. For application, fully saturate damp hair with the Straight Making Spray, then apply your other products as you normally would. With the spray, you can’t overuse it, but if you don’t fully coat the hair you won’t get the protection from the humidity. Also start as soon as possible. The technology has a cumulative effect, so the more you use it the more your hair resists humidity. Please please please let me know how it works in Mexico! Rob
The past few weeks in west Tennessee have been a nightmare for anyone prone to having the curse of frizzy hair, the humidity has been equal to that you would find in a tropical rainforest. I have put the Stright Making Styling Cream for coarse hair to the test and it WON!!! I have discovered that if I use it in conjunction with using the styling spray on my hair just before I use my straightening iron I have even better no frizz results. So..when is the shampoo and conditioner due to be available for purchase?
I read about Living Proof products in a few magazines earlier this year and I was intrigued because I live in Austin, TX that has high humidity. I ride the bus to and from work every week day so I was looking for a product that could keep my hair from being frizzy from the time I left my house until I arrived at work one hour later. I tried Living Proof (for both straight making and wave shaping, curl defining) and I have been very pleased with the results. One day not long after I started using Living Proof, when I got off my first bus to transfer to a second bus in downtown Austin, a total stranger who rides my first bus came up to me and told me how much he liked my new hair do–that it was quite an improvement.
I just placed an order online for the Straight Making No Frizz styling spray, cream, and treatment. By having a variety of Living Proof products at the ready, I’ll be able to keep two at home and take one with me for touch ups during the day because in addition to riding the bus to and from work, I also walk during my lunch hour and with the temperatures in Austin already reaching the mid-90’s, combined with the high humidity, I need to restyle my hair before I return to work.
Calling all Italian-Afro Girls! Have you found a N.F. combo that works in the rain and humidity?
still hanging in,
Lisa
Question for Rob:
I don’t have a normal hair situation, so I’d like your opinion before I purchase any products. I wear a hairpiece that covers my crown, with the length just above mid back. It it human hair with a thick texture and a slight curl. I’ve become a master of making it feel/work/look as good as it can, but I always struggle with frizz and tangles. I’ve tried a million products and what works the best is:
1st – paul mitchell super skinny serum
2nd – nexxus curl energee leave in conditioner
3rd – paul mitchell super clean sculpting gel
It’s taken me a while to figure out this combination, but if I use all 3 of them together, I can get through the day with minimal hair trouble.
Last year I went to Costa Rica and the humidity killed my hair and made it miserable for me to deal with – I had to keep it in a bun to keep my sanity. As I am going to Mexico next week and would hate to repeat the difficulty…I am hoping you can suggest which product I should use, and how I should use it. Creams have never worked well with my hair – tangles and frizz galore!
Note: – I would LOVE LOVE LOVE straight hair, but with the Asian human hair I buy, it never comes straight…there is always a wave. I choose to wear it with a slight curl because it makes it look more natural and it helps to avoid tangles/frizz (if I blow it straight it gets really poofy and the ends will tangle incessantly).
Thanks for any recommendations you have.
Carey
FINALLY… I have tried sooooo many different products to tame my frizz nothing and I mean NOTHING worked my hair always looked like a frizzy mess. I have used Living Proof straight making for medium to course hair for about 2 weeks now and I am amazed.. totally amazed, so is my husband (who never notices anything) 2 days ago someone actually came up to me and asked which salon I use. I haven’t been to a salon in about 3 months. Talk about boosting my self esteem. Also I should mention that i live in Florida where it is very humid almost all of the time and I work outside. By the end of the day… maybe just a little frizz but nothing like the all day mess I had before. I am so impressed with this product that I am going to tell my daughter to give it a try. Oh and one other thing… I am a cancer surviver and when my hair grew back… about a year ago it was frizzier than ever… now I have the hair back that I had when I was in my 20’s. Thank you thank you thank you for a wonderful product. I cant imagine that I will ever stop using it
I purchased the living proof straight treatment for coarse hair. It helped a little, but in my opinion, it is all about the styling methods and tools one uses. If you are proficient at really pulling your hair taut while blow drying and straightening, that is the key. Plus, for really thick, coarse hair, the product is cost prohibitive, since you have to use a lot and the container is so small. I will not be purchasing it again.
