In response to Stacie's question posted yesterday: Stacie, I love clients like you, they know their hair better than anyone. As I had previously mentioned, we created No Frizz Styling Treatment for Thick to Coarse hair just for your hair type. The treatment has an added wheat protein for hydration. Since we here at Living Proof haven't yet launched a purely hydrating product, (that blows away all the competition) I do encourage you to continue using whichever deep conditioning treatment that works best for you with your No Frizz product (see Rob's posting, Mixing No Frizz with Other Products). Hi! I'm Mitch DeRosa, owner of Mitchell John Salon in Boston and one of the co-founders of Living Proof. Starting today, I'll be sharing some of my hair styling experience and how, coupled with some incredibly good science, you can improve your look, (and your hair's health) exponentially. It's really a privilege to share helpful tips about such an amazing hair product as No Frizz. When it was created, one of the first hair types we wanted to address was thick, extra-frizzy hair. I found that if I was trying to straighten shoulder length hair and humidity protection was a must, I'd use about two dollops of product, a ½ dollar in diameter of frizz solution for medium to thick hair and work it through the hair with a comb, you can also use less product to smooth the hair but, to get great protection from humidity, you must create a seal on the strands. This requires a sufficient amount of No Frizz. Although this may seem like too much product, it's really not! It won't weigh the hair down or be greasy, I promise. Next, I would take the heavy moisture out with a blow dryer and then start smoothing the hair with either a natural bristle round brush or a Mason Pierson type brush. If my clients are looking for an ultra-sleek finish, I overlay the "straight making styling spray for fine to medium hair" and flat iron the head, section by section applying a few fine sprays to each section. The result: incredibly smooth, shiny, head of hair that won't frizz up, even in high humidity. In the coming weeks I’ll be blogging about a host of issues, if there are questions about No frizz, Living Proof or any other hair related topic please ask away! M.d.
