David joined us after receiving his Ph.D. from the University of California at San Diego where he focused on the design, synthesis and evaluation of small molecule inhibitors of metalloproteins. His work led to the discovery and development of a new class of metalloprotein inhibitors and changed the way researchers look at the design of such compounds. During his four year tenure, David's research led to over a dozen publications and two US patent applications. Today, as the leader of our haircare program, he's been at the forefront of how our technology works with the physiology of hair.

Prior to joining Living Proof, Soo-Young worked for several years under the supervision of world-renowned cancer researcher Dr. Judah Folkman in the Vascular Biology Program at Children's Hospital Boston/Harvard Medical School. Prior to her work with Dr. Folkman, she completed her Ph. D. in multidisciplinary fields of biochemistry, nutritional science and toxicology at Michigan State University, and completed a year of postdoctoral fellowship in Cancer Cell Biology at the Harvard School of Public Health. She has received numerous honors and awards for her pioneering research, in particular her work elucidating the role of proteins secreted by tumors in providing a natural check-point for metastasis. Soo-Young received Children's Hospital Boston's Cellular, Molecular and Clinical Research Best Young Researcher's Award for this work. She joined Living Proof not only with deep understanding and extensive experience of cell biology but also passion for new discovery in skincare products. Soo-Young plays a pivotal role in our innovative skincare discovery and is working on biological aspects in new material discovery.

Rob leads the Living Proof team with a singular, strategic vision drawn from 15 years of experience in the consumer products industry. Rob assumed his position as Chief Executive Officer of Living Proof in November, 2007, with nearly 10 years of experience with the L'Oreal Group. Prior to joining Living Proof, Rob was the Worldwide General Manager of Kiehl's Since 1851. With L'Oreal, he held the position of Senior Vice President of Marketing for L'Oreal Paris, the world's largest beauty brand. His marketing expertise is recognized throughout the industry and he has been named one of Crain's New York Business' "Forty Under 40" (2006).

Peter has had his hands in almost every major food and drug law passed in the last 35 years. He served as chief counsel for the FDA and long term outside counsel of the Personal Care Products Council, the Grocery Manufacturers of America and the Council for Responsible Nutrition. In recent years, he has become deeply involved in the biotech field and helps Living Proof understand regulatory issues.

Lynn Emmolo is known in the beauty industry as the consummate brand builder. Beginning her career in Product Development she parlayed her experience to increasing responsibilities in Marketing and Senior Management at L'Oreal, Avon and Limitedbrands. Her broad experience in Brand Management includes the creation and resuscitation of key global brands to profitable leadership positions. Additionally, as a senior executive at Avon, she led the transformation of the product to market process. Lynn helps Living Proof with marketing, sales and distribution strategy.

Jane has over 15 years of sales, business development and training expertise from her work with global beauty brands. As an executive with MAC Cosmetics for 10 years, she was part of the team that grew MAC from a small indie company to the major global cosmetics brand it is today. Prior to joining the Living Proof team, Jane was VP Sales and Education for GO SMILE, a prestige oral care brand. Jane has achieved success in building brands with major retail partners in the US, Canada, Europe, and Asia. Her varied career has included leadership roles in corporate banking, retail development and ecommerce. She joined Living Proof in January 2010 to develop and oversee sales, including retail, DRTV, professional, and international channels.

Chaz is seasoned product technologist with over 10 years of experience building web audiences, revenue, and market solutions. Prior to joining Living Proof, he was Director of Business Management at CBS Interactive's Entertainment & Lifestyle group, including CBS.com, TV.com, CHOW.com, and CBS Audience Network. In this role, he managed business operations and business intelligence across the portfolio. Previously, he was a consultant at eBay's Internet Marketing group, where he worked on SEO, SEM, and consumer products. Chaz holds a BS in Computer Science from MIT.

Betsy is one of the beauty industry's best-known and most-accomplished marketers. She was awarded the CEW Achiever Award in 2008 and sits on the Boards of CEW (Cosmetic Executive Women) and the Fragrance Foundation. Prior to becoming a board member of Living Proof, she spent ten years at Sephora as the Senior Vice President of Marketing. Betsy is credited with creating and launching the Sephora brand in the United States while developing, branding, and launching some of Sephora's most successful brand partners. Before Sephora, she was General Manager, North America at Escada Beaute. Betsy earned her MBA from the Wharton School, University of Pennsyvania, and her bachelor degree from Colgate University.

Eric Spengler joined Living Proof in September, 2007. Eric is a seasoned consumer product development expert with over 27 years of research and development experience. Prior to joining Living Proof, Eric was Sr. Director OTC Health Care Development at Combe Incorporated where he led technical new product development for Combe's skin care, feminine care, oral care, denture care and men's grooming businesses. Before joining Combe, he held the position of Sr. Director of Hair Color Product Development for Clairol and VP R&D for Clairol's professional salon division - Matrix Essentials. Prior to Clairol, Eric gained substantial development experience with Procter &Gamble where he led the development of several global skin care new product introductions for Olay and Clearasil.

Cassie has 10 years of experience in consumer products marketing with Unilever, Clairol, Victoria's Secret, and L'Oreal. Prior to joining Living Proof, she was the Assistant Vice President of Marketing for L'Oreal brand Lancome where she helped develop and launch the highest selling prestige skincare product in 2007. Prior to her work at L'Oreal, Cassie expanded the Victoria's Secret brand into the beauty category by launching its first hair and skin care lines. She also held the position of global brand manager on Herbal Essences, launching the popular shampoo brand into the hair color category internationally. At Living Proof, Cassie oversees all areas of marketing including product and concept development, packaging, merchandising, digital, customer service and PR.

Ron brings 14 years of experience in product development and supply to Living Proof. Prior to joining the company, Ron was the Formulation/Process Manager in beauty care product supply for Proctor & Gamble. Ron also held the position of Project Chemist for 13 years with the Gillette Company where he developed and launched over 40 products for the Personal Care Group, including four patented technologies. While at Gillette, Ron also directed all R&D functions for cross division projects between Personal Care, Braun, Gillette Blade and the Razor Advanced Research Group. His products led to strategic brand launches for Fusion, Mach 3, Gillette Series and Satin Care, helping make Gillette the #1 brand in Europe and North America in its category.

Jana's graduate studies in the laboratory of Prof. Seth Cohen at the University of California, San Diego focused on the investigation of small molecules as potential therapeutics for lead poisoning and as possible drugs to treat cancer or anthrax infection. In recognition of her exceptional graduate work in the Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry at UCSD, Jana was awarded the Teddy G. Traylor Fellowship in the Chemical Sciences. As an Integrative Training in Therapeutic Discovery postdoctoral fellow at Vanderbilt University, her main research project with Prof. Craig Lindsley and Dr. Dennis Hallahan focused on developing small molecule inhibitors that increase the efficacy of radiation therapy to treat cancer. Dr. Lewis was awarded an American Cancer Society Postdoctoral Fellowship, but she declined in favor of a Senior Research Scientist position within the Hair Discovery group at Living Proof.

Jon brings 20 years of experience in accounting, finance, and strategic management to Living Proof. He has experience in both the high tech and biotech industries in raising venture equity and has led efforts to secure several debt facilities at prior organizations. Most recently, he has served as Vice President of Finance and Operations for Rhytec, a medical device manufacturer. Prior to this position, he also held senior finance and operations positions at several startup organizations. Jon began his career in public accounting at Deloitte and Touche and is a CPA. At Living Proof, he is responsible for the all of the financial, administrative, and logistical operations.
